Sara Menker is the founder and CEO of Nairobi and New York-based Gro Intelligence and a founding partner of Gro Energy. Gro Intelligence cultivates opportunities. It gathers, aggregates, and processes data to unlock crucial insights into weather patterns, trade flows, pricing dynamics, and production, providing users with actionable agricultural data to drive higher productivity and greater access to capital. Gro Energy is an advisory firm focused on African oil and gas. It provides highly customized services to government and private sector clients in areas including energy law and regulation, finance, upstream and downstream services, power generation, business development strategy, and fiscal policy development strategy. Prior to founding Gro in 2012, Sara was a vice president in Morgan Stanley’s commodities group.
She is chair of the board for Truth Aid, a Trustee of the Mandela Institute For Development Studies, an Advisory Board Member of Shining Hope for Communities (SHOFCO), and a member of the Global Agenda Council on Africa at the World Economic Forum. Sara was named a Global Young Leader by the World Economic Forum and is a fellow of the African Leadership Initiative of the Aspen Institute.
