Ghetto Mirror is a monthly newspaper run by Shining Hope for Communities (SHOFCO). The newspaper focuses on current affairs, social innovation, gender issues and entrepreneurship opportunities and ideas, in Nairobi slums. All Ghetto Mirror writers are slum youth who are trained extensively in journalism and supported through continuous mentorship. The newspaper is free and distributed throughout the community.
Our mission is to provide quality reporting on slum issues across Nairobi and empower slum youth interested in journalism by training them on news writing, research, interviewing skills, photography and other media skills.
Our vision is twofold: First, we aim to serve as the premier source of community-based media specifically highlighting slum issues across Nairobi. Second, we aspire to develop talent and skill among young journalists in slums. Read more about our initiative on the Ghetto Mirror Website.
We offer companies the opportunity to advertise in our newspaper, targeting the slums. To support our initiative, send an email to [email protected]
